He relates encounters with Francois Mitterand, Willie Brandt, Olaf Palme, and Michael Manley, and gives a useful assessment of Ed Koch's transformation from liberal lawyer to conservative politician. Harrington also recounts the struggle to recognize sexism and racism within the socialist movement.
