Reviews
Rossman, noted geriatrician and author of the standard medical text Clincial Geriatrics (Lippincott, 1986. 3d ed.), here writes a lay reader manual on health and physical changes associated with aging. Subjects covered include nutrition, common aches and pains, symptoms of a heart attack, and cosmetic surgery. Instead of providing reading lists, Rossman includes "health reports," summaries of pertinent articles from medical journals, in his chapters. Although his style is conversational, Rossman occasionally lapses into clinical discussions of conditions such as colonic ischemia, which is unlikely to be encountered by the average reader. This book is somewhat disappointing, given Rossman's reputation. For comprehensive consumer health collections.
