First single volume deluxe edition, first printing, published by George Allen & Unwin in 1969. Black covers with beautiful gilt, silver and green decoration to the front, based on a drawing by the author, gilt lettering to the spine, speckled page edges, patterned endpapers, two fold out maps, pages printed on fine India paper. Slipcase with a few marks, some wear to the corners of the opening. Book with bright gilt decorations, square, securely bound, some minor marks to the covers, spine a little faded, clean pages, two leaves with some creasing towards a corner, some faint corner creasing, otherwise smart, complete with both fold out maps. Very good condition. Printed on fine India paper, 1193 pages. Will be carefully bubble wrapped and packed in a box.
