The first edition of the second novel in parody of Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. First edition. Illustrated with frontispiece and fifty in-text illustrations. Collated complete. The sequel to Clara in Blunderland, this work is a political parody of Lewis Carroll's books Alice's Adventures in Wonderland and Through the Looking-Glass. Like its precursor, this work criticises the British government's approach to the Second Boer War and the early administrations of Prime Minister Arthur Balfour. Written by Edward Harold Begbie, J. Stafford Ransome, and Michael Henry Temple, who were all English journalists and authors. Illustrated by J. Stafford Ransome, credited as S. R. In the original green cloth binding. Externally, smart with light shelf wear and bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine and the odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd handling mark and light spotting to the first and last few pages. Bookseller's embossed stamp to the front endpaper. Very Good. Seller Inventory # 858T70

Taschenbuch. Condition: Neu. Ransome, J Stafford (illustrator). nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - Caroline Lewis is a pen-name, that of the team of Edward Harold Begbie, J. Stafford Ransome, and M. H. Temple, who wrote two novels dealing with British frustration and anger about the Boer War and with Britain's political leadership at the beginning of the twentieth century. 'Clara in Blunderland' details the adventures of Arthur Balfour while being groomed to become Prime Minister -- 'Lost in Blunderland''s Clara is Balfour once he got the job. But you don't need to be an expert in early twentieth-century British politics to enjoy either book -- the story's parody of Lewis Carroll's 'Wonderland' books is still fresh and funny even more than a century later. Politics and politicians haven't changed much, it seems, in a century. That may be regrettable -- but at least Caroline Lewis can still make us laugh about it!. Seller Inventory # 9781904808503
