A pleasing first edition of this illustrated recipe book from English society hostess and food writer Ruth Lowinsky. First edition. Illustrated throughout. Following the success of her debut cookbook Lovely Food (1931), Lowinsky quickly compiled a selection of additional dishes. This work is a charming recipe book with dishes for all occasions from asparagus rolls and mushroom flan, to boeuf a la mode and caramel ices. Written by Ruth J. Emilie Lowinsky, an English society hostess and food writer. Lowinsky was good friends of British writers friend of Rebecca West and Raymond Mortimer. Illustrated by her husband, Thomas Esmond Lowinsky, an English painter noted primarily for his portraiture, but he also painted fantasy scenes. In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor bumping to the extremities and light discolouration to the cloth. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Previous owner's bookplate to the front endpaper. Very Good.
