A first edition of this comedy novel written by Compton MacKenzie. First edition. In 1997, under the Celestial Chinese Republic, a rocket containing Tin Pan, a Chinese scientist, and John Bosworth, an English commercial traveler, flew to the moon. They discovered that the barren wilderness on the side of the Moon visible to the Earth was not caused by volcanic action or meteorite bombardment, but by a nuclear war 3,000 years ago between two peoples each determined to preserve its own way of life. Written by Compton MacKenzie, a Scottish writer of fiction, biography and history. He was also a cultural commentator, raconteur and Scottish Nationalist, being one of the co-founders in 1928 of the National Party of Scotland. In the original blue cloth binding. Externally, excellent with minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine only. Unclipped dust wrapper also excellent with light shelf wear to the extremities and one small closed tear to the front.
