First Edition. Exlibrary markings. Gift inscription from Paul C. Lindley on ffep. Binding and hinges sound. Pages clean, tanned, deckled. Many color illustrations of plant species tipped in. Cloth over boards is shelf worn with some scraping on picture of Burbank at top front. Edge rubbing especially at corners and extremities of spine. Prepared from Burbank's original field notes covering experiments made over the course of 40 years. Paul Lindley, whose signature appears on ffep, headed the J. Van Lindley Nursery Company and served as director of Jefferson Standard Life Insurance Company. He served as a member of the Greensboro City Council, the last two years as mayor (1931-1933). He was active in developing city parks and playgrounds as well as the Greensboro municipal airport, known as Lindley field. Ex-Library; 9.5" tall; 304 pages.
