Vol.1: col.f/piece+xviii+cclxiii (all pag.in Roman); Vol.2: 286 pp.+(1, pub. notice), Vol.1 t.p. says 'two hundred illustrations', all bar 2 of these are in vol.1, all in text, occ.full pages; 2 sigs to front endpapers of each vol. dated 1879 and 1951+a what looks like a very small private lib.number top each pastedown, end-gutters all cracked but rear vol.1 opened, though secure, vol.1 also has an internal opening which has been closed quite a long time ago with sellotape type take, now brown, another sl.opening in vol.2, short repairs of some kind across top and bottom of pp.viii/ix gutter vol.1 using same tape as before; internally otherwise both clean and unmarked; covers with gilt central armorial cartouches to front and gilt-lettered re-laiid spines are generally clean and wear confined to moderate corner-bumping and traces only of surface rubbing, darker brown to underlying base of relaid spines and across adjacent spine ends onto cloth. Set weighs 1.2 kg so may incur additional postage outside UK.
