- 1st Edition - This is NOT an ex-library book and it is NOT a reprint edition- Binding is ORIGINAL leather bound with titles in gold (ALL GOLD still with luster and legible) on brick red inlaid label on spine; binding and text are overall neat, clean and solid, G+ or better with NO extraneous writings or bookplates. Just normal age coloration to text block and light foxing throughout and is missing first free page. In VERY GOOD condition for its age. Overall, a very nice, SOLID COLLECTOR COPY of a very SCARCE, ORIGINAL and IMPORTANT PIECE of MASONICK and UNITED STATES HISTORY. This RARE volume is 'a SELECTION of Masonick, Sentimental, and Humorous SONGS, DUETS, GLEES, CANONS, ROUNDS and CANZONETS. Respectfully dedicated to the most ANCIENT and HONOURABLE FRATERNITY of FREE and ACCEPTED MASONS. with an APPENDIX containing a short HISTORICAL ACCOUNT of MASONRY and likewise, a list of ALL the LODGES in the UNITED STATES. This SCARCE work CONTAINS 'ELEGANT ENGRAVINGS, and a number of VALUABLE Glees and Duets, some of which are particularly ADAPTED for the PIANO-FORTE. He (the author) likewise annexed a short HISTORICAL ACCOUNT of MASONRY; comprehending in the whole, one hundred and forty pages more than was first contemplated. The PAPER, PRESS -WORK, and BINDING, he is persuaded, will be SATISFACTORY to the EXPECTATIONS of every CANDID individual, and the MUSICK, he hopes, will meet the approbation of ALL lovers of HARMONY.' One of the two ENGRAVINGS is entitled: JOHN ANDERSON MY JO with the SONG on the adjacent page. The second of the two engravings is entitled: PROSTYLE TEMPLE with a description of the ENGRAVING listed below the WONDERFUL PIECE. MUSICK and SONGS include: ROYAL ARCH SONG, Royal Master's Song, THE PATRIOTIC DIGGERS, Aldiborontiphoscophornio, SENIOR GRAND WARDEN'S SONG, The Scotchman's Wallet, MASONICK ODE (for the Dedication or Installation of a Lodge), DIRGE (to be sung at the grave of a deceased brother), THE MASON'S FAREWELL, among a MULTITUDE of others (hundreds of pages). The APPENDIX contains extracts from the MOST CELEBRATED authors on MASONRY, with notes, HISTORICAL, CRITICAL, and ELUCIDATIVE. Also included in this RARE work is a LIST of the PRINCIPAL LODGES in the UNITED STATES. Collated from, and compared with, copies from the ORIGINAL RECORDS of the several GRAND LODGES in the UNION; including a list of the LODGES in his BRITANNICK MAJESTY'S PROVINCES of upper and lower CANADA and NOVA SCOTIA. 463 pages complete with NUMEROUS B&W ENGRAVINGS and ETCHINGS throughout and an index, the last page in which is missing a few page numbers and is torn and worn.
