8vo. (25 cm.) [14]3-459[9]p. Acknowledgments, Bibliography and Sources, Some Source Notes on Quotations, and Index. Endpapers are maps. Green cloth with gilt letters on the front cover and the spine and with the title in gilt on a black field on the spine. Black and white photo of Stone on the rear wrapper of the dust jacket. Some evidence of silverfish grazing around the edges of the covers, almost no wear to extremities, cloth clean, gilt bright, else near fine with no internal markings. Dust jacket spine slightly faded and the whole slightly soiled. A classic on the opening of the West by an eminent writer.
