About the Author

David G. Chandler, the doyen of modern Napoleanic historians, is the Head of the Department of War Studies at the Royal Military Academy at Sandhurst and the author of many books, including Napolean's Marshals, The Campaigns of Napolean, and Dictionary of the Napoleanic Wars.
