192p. A small brown cloth hardcover book in good condition. Edges worn; head and foot of spine chipped and frayed. Front free endpaper missing. Text clean and binding tight. The famous convent escape memoir by Rebecca Reed. Although Reed's work was not published until shortly after the Ursuline Convent riots in Charlestown, Massachusetts, rumors about her mistreatment may have influenced the angry Protestant rioters, who burned down a Catholic convent because they believed a nun was being held captive there.
