Folio. First edition, #430 of 1000 clothbound books issued. Signed by the publisher on the copyright page. White cloth with extensive gilt decorations, along with gridded cloth. Large folio. Unpaginated. 10 photogravures of paintings throughout. A look at various depictions of the Madonna by Old Masters, accompanied by critical and historical commentary. GOOD condition. Moderate scuffing and toning to the covers, with some soiling and staining. A few small wormholes in the front cover. Text block weak, with some pages slightly loose in the binding. One plate rather foxed. Text block toned.
