A smart first edition of the first issue of The Magnet Library, from the Amalgamated Press. First edition. Very scarce. Issue number one, for volume number one. With illustrations throughout. The Magnet was a British weekly boys' story paper published by Amalgamated Press, running from 1908 to 1940 for a total of 1,683 issues. Each issue contained a long school story about the boys of Greyfriars School, a fictional public school located somewhere in Kent. The Magnet was aimed primarily at working-class boys who would never go to a public school themselves. Stories were written by Frank Richards, the pen-name of Charles Harold St. John Hamilton, an English writer, specialising in writing long-running series for weekly magazines following a recurrent casts of characters. He is estimated to have written about 100 million words in his lifetime and has featured in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's most prolific author. In the original paper wraps. Externally, smart with light sunning to the extremities and the odd small closed tear. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with minor age toning to the extremities and the odd small handling mark. Very Good Indeed. Seller Inventory # 959T62
