Ansel Adams was an extraordinary environmentalist and photographer, having been set on the path after being given a camera during a trip to Yosemite National Park. A firm believer that one "makes" rather than "takes" a photograph, Adams went on to establish the photography department in the MOMA (The Museum of Modern Art, New York City) and helped establish the medium as a serious art form.
