True first British printing with original unclipped jacket (£6.50). Jacket has minor patchy edge/shelf wear, one very small (approx. 4mms) tear/bump to front lower corner, the odd very small mark, minor creasing/odd spots of foxing to front/back inner flaps, the odd little crease/rub to edges and a little pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine and to corners. Boards are near fine (having been well protected by the jacket) with a hint of pushing to corners, the odd minor bump to edges and minor pushing/rubbing to head/tail of spine. Pages are generally clean and the binding is tight. Pages slightly tanned. Odd small marks/spots of foxing to page edges. One feint mark to top edge of pages. Very occasional small mark to pages. About the Author

Doris Lessing was one of the most important writers of the second half of the 20th-century and was awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature 2007. Her novels include "The Grass is Singing", "The Golden Notebook" and "The Good Terrorist". In 2001, Lessing was awarded the David Cohen Prize for a lifetime's achievement in British literature. In 2008, "The Times" ranked her fifth on a list of "The 50 greatest British writers since 1945". She died in 2013.
