Seven further full page b/w plates portraits of Chaucer, Whitman, Byron, Shelley, Hardy, Wilder, and Cather. Title page in red and black. Sections on 'Lights in Poetry', 'Problematic Natures in English Literature', and 'Four Noteworthy Modern Novels'. 357pp. Page fore edges rough cut.
