First Edition. Basis for the 1951 film noir "Lightning Strikes Twice," directed by King Vidor and starring Richard Todd, Ruth Roman, Zachary Scott, Mercedes McCambridge, and Frank Conroy. Rare. Very Good plus in a Very Good or better example of the dust jacket. Tiny ink price notation at the top right corner of the front endpaper. Jacket is moderately rubbed, with shallow chips at the spine ends and three narrow horizontal tears on the rear panel. Only the second jacketed copy we have ever encountered. In a custom green quarter-leather clamshell box. Calf leather on the spine of the clamshell box moderately scuffed. The Dark Page II: 1959-1965, p. 46.
