New York: W. W. Norton, 1957. Stated first edition, 1957. Illustrated with black and white plates from photographs. An account of this New Englander's sailing trip to the South Seas and encounters with the people who lived there. Green hardcover with lighter green cloth spine, with dustjacket. The book has some uneven fading and minor rubbing to corners and spine ends, good hinges, sound text block, transparent staining to the upper portions of the black and white plates, text pages clean and not affected, gift notation dated 1957 on front free endpaper, no other markings. The mylar protected dustjacket is priceclipped and is in very good condition with some modest edgewear and a bit of spotting toward the top of the front panel, spine lightly faded but clearly legible, very little paper loss. First Edition. Hard Cover. Good/Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
