FIRST EDITION hardcover, sewn-bound in decorative black cloth, with bright gilt lettering and decoration on front cover, is in G condition, having corners bumped and slightly worn; some light staining to front and back covers; some light wear to top and bottom spine; light rubbbing/scuffing to covers; some slight shaking to volume, noticed between frontispiece and preface, where the threads show some stressing; also some light stress to threads throughout volume; some age-adhesion in gutter between frontispiece and title-page; interior clean. Book has one illustration, the frontispiece, which is an engraving depicting a religious scene, with the caption: "There appeared to them parted tongues as it were of fire, and it sat upon every one of them: And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost.
