Most of the book deals with the intestines, but at the end of his book (pp. 137-151), Mattson discusses vaginal discharges and vaginal "injections" to treat them. On the title page, Mattson is described as a Fellow of the Massachusetts Medical Society, and a member of the Boston Medical Association. There were several later editions through the 1850s.
