Light bumping to the corners and edges of the dust jacket as well as faint sunning, but excellent overall, no major tears or blemishes, cover artwork bright and vibrant, colours pop. Now protected by plastic slipcover. A crease up front cover of original green cloth binding, faint discolouration towards edges, but otherwise in excellent shape, with silver lettering along spine crisp and clean. Dust marks to top of text block, but otherwise clean with crisp page edges. Pages throughout are tightly bound, clean and tidy throughout.
A first edition, first printing hardback, collectible as Henry Reed's first book and sole verse collection. Of interest to collectors of mid-century British poetry and literary travel writing, especially in such wonderful condition.
This reflective book blends poetic observation with personal travel narrative, capturing Reed?s impressions of Verona and its surrounding landscape. Written with lyrical clarity and attentive detail, the work explores the interplay between place, memory, and cultural history, offering a quietly meditative portrait of an iconic Italian city. Elegant and introspective, the text provides a distinctive example of Reed?s voice beyond his better-known poetry, appealing to readers drawn to literary travel and contemplative prose.
