Add to basketA perfectly serviceable reference copy; nothing fancy, but complete and sturdy. Big, bold facsimile signature at half-title. Big, tall, quarto trade softcover in oblong format, featuring on the front cover his iconic Eiffel Tower painter. Some furling and slight creasing to tips, little wear to text-block per se, but with a damp-stain beginning at rear endpapers, dissipating backwards and not affecting text or images. Extremely scarcely available to the trade, there being currently only two copies available in China, none in the U.S. Bilingual text, in English and Japanese. Marc Riboud (1923 ? 2016) was a French photographer, best known for his extensive photojournalistic reports on the Far East: The Three Banners of China, Face of North Vietnam, Visions of China, and In China. A member of the French Resistance from 1943-1945, then for many years an engineer in Lyon factories, but an early convert to photography and mentee of Henri Cartier-Bresson, Robert Capa, and David Seymour, the founders of Magnum Photos. Later he traveled throughout Asia, Africa, the U.S. and Japan, witnessing warfare and associated violence up close on three continents, working in China during the Cultural Revolution, in Fez, Angkor, Acapulco, Niger, Benares, Shaanxi and elsewhere (Wikipedia). 84 plates in black-and-white, some double thumb-nail, some half-page, others full page, with captions, all in Kanji characters. Texts are from the Centre National de le Photographie, where an exhibit was also held. Fine portrait of the photographer at frontis by David Riboud. Robert L. Kirschenbaum, from the publisher, contributes an Acknowledgments section, noting the importance of the one-man exhibit of his work held in Japan, the first ever.Member, I.O.B.A., C.B.A., and adherent to the highest ethical standards. I've done my best to state clearly and truthfully the condition of each and
every book I have listed on-line. Sometimes, however, books change condition
insofar as they sit on the shelf for a long time, get moved by customers, get
taken to and from book fairs, and so on. If for some reason you don't like your
purchase or it arrives somehow damaged, or if it doesn't get to you at all, you
might be eligible for a refund within 30 days of the estimated delivery date.

Most orders will ship within one to two business days, but often times, they
will go out on the same day as they are ordered. I've based my shipping
costs on the assumption of books weighing 2.2
LB, or 1 KG. If your book order is heavy or oversized (extra thick, extra
long, etc.), I may contact you to let you know that extra shipping is
required. Bubble mailers and boxes will be expertly and securely wrapped and
monitored. Please contact us if there is anything extra or different you need us to do.
