Illustrated with a frontispiece and numerous in-text and full-page images. A largely autobiographical novel published, this work describes the life of Barty Josselin as told by his close friend Robert Maurice, starting from their school days in Paris in the 1850s. Written and illustrated by George Louis Palmella Busson du Maurier, a Franco-British cartoonist and writer known for work in Punch. He was the grandfather of the writers Angela du Maurier and Daphne du Maurier and the artist Jeanne du Maurier. He was also father of Sylvia Llewelyn Davies and grandfather of the five boys who inspired J. M. Barrie's Peter Pan. In the original red cloth binding. Externally, smart with light rubbing to the extremities and minor fading to the spine. The odd very small mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound.
