Charming and profuse illustrations by Phiz. Tissueguarded steel engraved plates including the coloured frontispiece to this edition and another, the black and white frontispiece to the original edition, many further in-text illustrations, coloured portrait pictorial endpapers featuring Dickens aged 27 and 58. Very good clean tight sound square, discreet inscription, no further signs. Beautifully bound in blind and bright gilt embossed green cloth, featuring elaborate gilt scrolled floral vignette to gently rubbed spine, sporadic foxing to attractively untrimmed edges not intruding, top edge gilt.
