About the Author

Michael T. R. B. Turnbull is an author and lecturer specialising in Scottish biography. Educated at the University of Cambridge (where he performed in Shakespearean drama with the then Ian McKellen and Trevor Nunn) and at the Edinburgh College of Art, he is currently working towards a PhD in Ecclesiastical History at Edinburgh University. He has taken many leading baritone roles in operatic performances and also been a member of the Scottish Opera Chorus. His previous publications include _Joseph Hislop - gran tenore_ (Scolar Press 1992). Turnbull resides in Scotland.
