About this Item

Beautiful hand-coloured aquatint possibly by George or Robert Cruikshank or even William Heath. depicts a comical "St Anthony Preaching To the Fishes". With a title "Buys an Historical Picture" Possibly a skit at people with little taste in engraving or art. There isa two-line verse under the image and above the publishers details. Framed and glazed in a later more modern cream mount, old oak frame possibly contemporary with the image, new backing board and fixings. Measures: 14 x 19 cm without mount and 25 x 30+cm with. Very fresh and clean, all original colouring. NOT later. Seller Inventory # 2875

Also maps and Ephemera - in fact, anything interesting on paper really. We have in stock every item we list. We do not use stock photographs, but photograph each item individually. We very rarely use "fine" or "mint" as a description, mainly due to the age and the fact that 99.9% of what we sell has been pre-owned and therefor Fine would not be a term for a book we sell despite its fine-like appearance. We always take items back unreservedly if not in the condition as described. We always try to describe fully.
