He was an aide-to-camp to Rochambeau during the American Revolutionary War and was a minister of war to Joseph Bonaparte, Napoleon's older brother.Eight pages of publisher's adverts to front of Vol I.Collated, complete. Rebound in cloth binding, with original binding rebacked on spine and boards. Externally, smart. Marks to boards with a bit of fading and edge wear to extremities, particularly to Vol II. Pastedown and endpapers have been rebacked. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are age-toned to margins with the odd spot, particularly to the first few pages of text.
