About this Item

250 pages of the extract of the Senate Committee Proceedings regarding the Stock held by Maryland Corporation of the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal and it's Surrender. The Government were to undertake the continuance of the canal and it apparently involved the State objecting to an enforced sell off of the stock certificates held in Maryland and by that State. It details the number of navvies and people, the sums of over $3 million, the routes, the miles involved, etc. There are costings and charts of statistics. The whole group of sections in here are all done by G. C. Washington. President of the Chesapeake and Ohio canal Company. The statute is No 277 26th Congress 1st Session. Once disbound from the whole, now in later soft card covers with label on cover. Some aging to paper, though mild, VG. octavo.
