First Printing [The Macmillan Company, New York, 1929]; [viii, frontis], 354, [4 blank pages]; black boards, orange pastedowns on front & spine with black illustration & titling, rough-cut block, a near-fine copy; in the excellent, unclipped [$2.50] dustjacket, a little rubbed & chipped, 1cm triangular piece from front top, a little loss at spine head, spine slightly faded. Examination of the machine age by noted American economist Stuart Chase. Wonderfully illustrated by W[alter]. T[andy]. Murch [1907-67] with 5 full-page woodcut prints, numerous decorations & the spectacular dustjacket. Murch was commissioned to illustrate this book while still at art school, its striking dustjacket proving the catapult for his successful artistic career. `1929.
