Illustrated with photographs and maps. Front cover and verso oif title page state "For Military Personnel Only/ Not To Be Republished". Foreword by C.G. Marshall, Chief of Staff. An account of the operations of the 5307th Composite Unit Provisional (aka "Merrill's Marauders") in North Burma from February to May, 1944. The combat narrative is based mainly on interviews conducted by the unit historian after the completion of the operation and on infromation furnished by the Historical Branch, G-2, War Department. The operation consisted of three missions: the first in Walawbum, the second Shaduzup and Inkangahtawng, and the third Myitkyina. The unit, named after Frank Merrill, was a long range penetration special operations jungle warfare unit that became famous for its deep penetrations behind Japanese lines and for engaging Japanese forces of superior number. The "Amrican Forces In Action" series of publications was prepaerd by the War Department especially for the information of wounded men. Seller Inventory # E30323
