First Edition stated. Coleman dustjacket art. Notable Hollywood fiction title concerning a "small town general store clerk who goes movie-mad. and [who] is delighted with his sudden rise to stardom [as an actor] until he sees himself on the screen in his first picture". Found in Anthony Slide's The Hollywood Novel. The novel was quickly adapted into a Broadway play by George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly and served as the basis for successful 1924 silent film directed by James Cruze. In 1947, a sound film version was made starring Red Skelton, Virginia O'Brien, and Gloria Graham. Near Fine in Good dustjacket, Split along front spine edge and at front flap edge (both mended at verso with archival tape), nickel sized chips at both top and bottom spine ends, few shallow edge chips.
