Found in Anthony Slide's The Hollywood Novel. The novel was quickly adapted into a Broadway play by George S. Kaufman and Marc Connelly and served as the basis for successful 1924 silent film directed by James Cruze. In 1947, a sound film version was made starring Red Skelton, Virginia O'Brien, and Gloria Graham.
