About this Item
Set of 7 magazines: the October 1981 issue, and the six issues comprising January - August 1984. All 11" x 16" softcover books, staple bound in stiff paper wraps. Approx 40-50pp., sumptuously illustrated in b/w and occasional color. July/August 1984 issue with conspicuous water damage, dampstains to front cover and a consistent wave to all pages - though the issue remains legible with a sound binding. All other issues with occasional small creases, errant price stickers, mild toning, and mild-moderate shelfwear. Set of early issues of Metropolis (est. 1981), published by Horace Havemeyer III and edited by Sharon Lee Ryder. Features include Mark Matousek on David Hockney, Patricia Phillpis on the architecture of Ocean Grove, NJ, James Marston Fitch on American skyscrapers, a piece on the "Talismans of architecture" (being architectural drawings), Fern Schumer on former Herman Miller chief DJ DePree, and much more. Rare, early examples of this important, handsome architecture/design magazine in overall very good condition. Seller Inventory # ABE-1686944764499
