About this Item
Folio, 47 by 35 cm. Title leaf, table of contents leaf, followed by 30 color plates. Housed in portfolio, with three ribbon ties. OCLC First Search shows holdings at Met, Getty, Hagley, New York Public and Biblio et Archives Nationales Quebec. Surprisingly, not showing up on Gallica (BNF's catalogue). Furniture is quintessential Art Nouveau pieces, including buffets, bookcases, armoires, tables, commodes, vitrines, etc. etc. All shown in rooms with wallpaper and perhaps idealized settings yet with the focal point the particular piece being showcased. The palette of the plates is generally muted soft colors. Condition: one of the three ribbon ties has one piece detached, but we have the piece still. Cover has moderate soiling, and a smallish amount of abrasion near the center of the front, and minor paper pastedown loss along edge of rear. Some fraying of threads by the joints, and some separation, or starting, in rear. Title page very age toned, with some unevenness to this toning. Light age toning, and minor occasional foxing in the margins of the plates -- most plates without any foxing to speak of. Portfolio. Paper pastedown. Cloth spine. Ribbon ties. The shipping cost provided automatically by ABE assumes that the item is the size of an average hardcover book. Since our stock is comprised largely of material which is bigger and heavier, we will often need to request additional shipping charges as a result. We pride ourselves on always packing safely, with the actual materials and method of packing depending on the item(s), where it is going, and with whom we are shipping. We most frequently use the post office, but on some high value items, or upon request, we may use alternatively UPS or FedEx. With the postal service, to domestic destinations with lower value items and the automatically furnished ABE shipping quote, we will usually use Media Mail; on higher value items we are partial to Priority or Express Mail. We will always seek to comply with a customer's wishes if they are communicated to us. When we seek additional shipping charges, we pass along those charges at our cost -- we do not add for handling or materials generally.
