Head and tailpieces, and decorative initial letters. Some light, minor yellowing. Bound in old full vellum with inked title on spine. First edition published by this naturalist who introduced microscopy to the general audience with papers on the microscopical examinations of water creatures and fossils. He made a series of pioneering observations of crystal morphology. Baker also developed new methods of teaching the speech-impaired. Nice, scarce and very rare copy.
