About this Item
A fantastic first edition of this later work by Ivy Compton-Burnett, presented in a Gollancz yellow dust wrapper. Dialogue-heavy in the author's characteristic style, this is a tale of dysfunction within a well-off family.Dame Ivy Compton-Burnett (1884-1969) was an English novelist whose works tackled Edwardian family life; she was awarded the James Tait Black Memorial Prize in 1955.This was the penultimate work published by Compton-Burnett before her death. An excellent first edition of this work, complete with an unclipped yellow Gollancz dust wrapper. In the publisher's original full cloth binding with an unclipped dust wrapper. Externally lovely. Dust wrapper is sunned to the spine, with a chip to the head of the front joint and a little age-toning to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Fine.
