"Reprinted for the Straits Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society from the "Journals" of the Royal Asiatic, Bengal Asiatic, and Royal Geographical Societies; the "Transactions" and "Journal" of the Asiatic Society of Batavia; and the "Malayan Miscellanies" The Straits Branch journal was published under three different names during its 130-year history. The journal was first founded in 1877 by a group of British colonial administrators in Singapore, and published as the Journal of the Straits Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society, put out at six-monthly intervals by the Straits Branch of the Royal Asiatic Society. The journal carried articles on the history and natural history of Malaysia and the region, The two volumes are clean and unmarked with library bookplates on the front pastedown. Golden cloth boauds with a gold-stamped seal of the Royal Asiatic Society on the front boards are intact, bumped at extremities, dulled along spine. 1st Edition. Hardcover.
