First UK edition hardcover, with dust jacket, published by Collins Crime Club, 1974. The first in the 'Inspector Alvarez' series of mysteries set on Mallorca. In this one, Alvarez looks into a death of an unpopular resident of the English ex-pat community of the island. This copy is a library discard. As a library discard, the dust jacket has been protected by a clear cover, though that cover has been taped to the cover boards, front and back. Jacket is price clipped. Library ink stamp on the first flyleaf page and copyright page, along with a hand written date, and 'Alvarez'. Smudge marks and age tanning to the edges of the text block. No writing on the text pages besides that flyleaf page. Last flyleaf page has the glue residue from where a due date pocket was removed. This is a UK first edition copy, formerly a Canadian library copy. Hardcover boards are flat, some minor edge wear. Binding is tight especially considering its use as a library book. We have several books in the series listed too!
