Using the stages of purification and refinement found in The Book of Lambsprinck , a 16th-century alchemical text, as well as in Jung's archetypes of consciousness and unconsciousness, the authors trace the development of the self from solitude to union. The great attraction of the book is its affirmation of the redemption of broken matter in the union of self and soul. Illustrations, reproduced from The Book of Lambsprinck , are beautifully rendered. The end result, in sum, is a vital text for all spiritual seekers.
