Folio. [5], 2-4. Contemporary half blue pigskin over marbled paper boards, spine in six compartments with gold lettering and gold floral decorations; top edge gilt. Bound by Chatelin. Decorative grey and blue endpapers and pastedowns. Illustrated with 96 color plates and with a color illustration on the title page. Engravings done by the Pauquet brothers. The plates depict European fashion from the early middle ages up until the middle of the nineteenth century (the final plate depicts an outfit from 1864). Beautifully illustrated. A small chip to the rear board, rubbing to the boards' edges and a bit of bowing to the front board.
