Add to basketFirst issue in gilt-stamped and decorated bright blue cloth boards with panels ruled in blind & gilt, 2-volume complete set of this landmark work, no markings, NOT ex-lib, bindings tight pages clean & bright with virtually no foxing save to the prelims & last pages of both volumes, all vivid blue plates present along with the nearly 200 illustrations throughout, some taken from Darwin's "Various Contrivances by which Orchids are Fertilised by Insects" of 1862, the boards show only light shelfwear & quiet scratches with slight rounding of the corners & softening to spine ends, spines a little darkened but titles still quite clear, bindings tight with white endpapers replacing the original brown (professionally done), else a clean tight near-exemplary set; 2 stout 8vos: (xii) 432 + (viii) 320pp illus, cumulative index.
