Book #5 in the 7-book series from the Stratemeyer Syndicate (under the Laura Lee Hope pen name) that thrilled & inspired girls in the early 20th century. Set in the new motion picture industry that produced silent films in New Jersey, the series featured sisters Ruth & Alice DeVere, who help their widowed actor father & appear in all sorts of pictures themselves. The series only ran from 1914-1916. In 214 pages + 2 pages of ads for this & other children's titles in rear, glossy frontispiece by Walter S. Rogers (unattributed save for signature), this is a First Printing of the the 1914 FIRST EDITION, listing only to Self in front & rear. This 12mo (5.25" x 7.50") with tan cloth-covered boards decorated & lettered in orange & brown to front & spine is in VG condition: very clean with light external soil & very mild rubbing, small light stain to fore edge. Binding strong with a slight rightward lean, both hinges secure. Pages creamy white with mild tanning, heavier to edges, unmarked save for 2 former owners' names & addresses in pen to ffep. No DJ (missing). SPECIAL: buy 2 or more books in this series, take 10% off, 3, take 20% off, 4, take 30% off & only $1 extra shipping each!
