Item description from seller

Mr. Explorer Douglas by John Pascoe. Publisher: A H & A W Reed, Wellington, New Zealand, 1969, First Edition. Very good hardback with jacket. Blue cloth boards are marked/mottled with a little rubbing and bumping, no inscriptions, sellotape marks to end-papers, binding firm; pages very good, minor marks. Jacket is rubbed; creased; marked and chipped with tear on flap, and fading to spine. 331 pages , illustrated. Scottish-born Charlie Douglas ranks as one of the great early European explorers of New Zealand. From 1867 to 1916 he recorded the geography and topography of South Westland, its ecology and conservation, at a time when this was scarcely known. This book is a revised edition of the 1957 account of Douglas by John Pascoe. A third of it details Douglas' life and the rest presents Douglas' own journals and sketches. ALL PHOTOS ARE OF THE ACTUAL BOOK. All books are sent with free courier postage within New Zealand.
