Possible First US Edition; the other candidate is the Harper & Brother's edition, both are dated 1888. Publisher's brick cloth, titled and decorated on spine and cover in gilt and black. Frontispiece and Haggard's facsimile signature. With typo on page 239, Line 1, "Johnson" for "Johnston", and three page publisher's catalog at rear. See Scott page 21. New York: Pollard & Moss (1888), 241 pps. Fair/Good copy with damp stain along bottom edge throughout the book, cracked hinges, Christmas 1888 inscription on f.f.e, toning cheap paper and a few pages have top corner missing.
