1st Edition thus. 426, [4]pp. Octavo. Blue-grey cloth with gilt lettering on spine and gilt lettering/colour decoration on front cover. Very slight staining/scuffing on back and front. Corners slightly bumped and worn. Top and bottom of spine worn and small amount of edge of front cover. Signed by previous owner on front endpaper (Baltimore 1945). Very light staining on front endpapers. Small drawing stuck onto front free endpaper (takes about a bit less than half the page) using six circular stickers. Small tear in spine between front endpapers. Very small dent on edges of pages and top edge gilt. Several B/W photographic illustrations throughout. Clean, tight text block. very good One of nine nature books by the celebrated American author and wildlife photographer.
