The first of The Vicar Chronicles - a series of whodunnits, based around the character of the legendary music producer and great British eccentric: The Vicar, as seen through the witty, irreverent eyes of his assistant Punk Sanderson. The Vicar protects a famous singer from a campaign to sabotage her career, while fighting her crooked manager over unpaid royalties. And just why is he so worried about a photocopier?! Seemingly real-life dramas and wondrous tales of misdeeds in the music industry. "Sherlock Holmes meets Spinal Tap".

Authored by David Singleton (Pseudonym: Punk Sanderson): A very English maverick, Singleton delights in the story of a speech he delivered recently at a Cambridge reunion - and the fact that this unexpected honor had less to do with his contribution to Philosophy than fond memories of the single "Lazy Bugger" he released as an undergraduate.Ever unconventional, his first home was a handbuilt 38 ft boat. And his next musical release - recorded in the studio he founded, The Mobile - was the ground-breaking "Record that could Change every Time You Played it". On some playings, a guitar solo would appear. On others, not. Sometimes, a telephone voice might sing. Other times, not. Such variable play music later, of course, became a staple of computer games. In 1999, he co-founded, almost by accident, BootlegTV - a company dedicated to promoting recordings & films of live concerts, and raised $15 million in the dragon's den of Vulture Capital. The company's legacy can be seen partly in the concert series sold by bands as diverse as Pearl Jam and Phish - but mostly in the label DGM, which he co-owns with Robert Fripp. This label - at the forefront of new attitudes to copyright and artist royalties - has released over 100 albums and hundreds of online concerts by King Crimson and other artists.Singleton has been lucky enough to work with artists as diverse as The Amsterdam Metropole Orchestra, Bill Bruford, The California Guitar Trio, Brian Eno, Robert Fripp, John Paul Jones, King Crimson, Bill Nelson, The Orb, Lewis Taylor. The idea of The Vicar Chronicles presented itself when he asked the simple question "Why has no-one written whodunnits about the music industry?" - and received the equally simple reply "Because you haven't written them yet." He has resolutely applied his vision of a single coherent multimedia future - personally creating every item from Novels to Videobooks, Graphic novels to Audiobooks, Songbooks to Online media.
