pp: 494, 472. FIRST OF THIS HURTIG EDITION. Price-clipped pictorial dust jacket, red cloth boards. The book includes an introduction to this edition, colour frontispiece to each volume, eight maps, three of which are fold-out maps, and illustrations, including several colour plates. The story of the government supported exploration of the Canadian northwest, sometimes known as the Palliser Expedition. The dust jacket has light edge wear and a little sunning to the red lettering on the spine. The jacket is protected now with a Brodart cover.
