An ex-Library copy of this contemporary 1960s study of Civil Rights in the USA - the first impression of the first UK edition, published in 1963. The book was originally published in the USA by Harper & Row in 1962. ***Very good in dark-green cloth-covered boards, with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still beautifully bright. No bumps to the boards. Corners sharp. Cloth clean and unmarked. The book would be described as near fine except for the fact that there are library stamps and enclosures. Internally very good, with no creases or tears. Pages clean. However, there is still a library sheet and sticker affixed to the front free endpaper and pastedown, a Kingston upon Hull Training College Library stamp to the title page, a stamp and writing to the printer's page, and a lending sheet and sticker to the front endpaper and pastedown respectively. There are also two vertical strips of tape off-setting to the front and rear free pastedowns, caused by the library having previously taped the dustwrapper to the boards. Interestingly, the library sheet at the back shows that the book was a very popular read in the 1970s! [Please see scans] ***In a good only original printed price-clipped dustwrapper designed by Michael Harvey. The dustwrapper would be described as very good, except for some staining to the top back of the front panel - not really visible from the front, and some tape offsetting along the edges of the front and rear flaps.
