M. Andrews. Issued in 1940 to celebrate the 400-year anniversary of Francisco Vasquez de Coronado exploration of New Mexico in 1540, it highlights many of New Mexico?s many tourist attractions. There is information of Carlsbad Caverns, the great White Sands, ruins of the early indigenous people, Franciscan missions, dude ranches, and the variety of outdoor activities that New Mexico offers. The back cover lists the dates of the various fiestas and celebrations.The double-page map shows major highways, Indian reservations by tribe, state and national monuments, national parks and monuments. A wonderful visual look at New Mexico in 1940. Fine, bright, unused copy.
