NEW YORK ROAD RUNNER'S CLUB COMPLETE BOOK OF RUNNING

Presents a host of facts and advice for runners on such topics as training, nutrition, and injury prevention

Lebow is the organizer of the New York City Marathon and an indefatigable promoter of running; coauthor Gloria Averbuch produces "Fitness Features" for New York radio. Here, the authors gather advice on fitness, health, nutrition, equipment, training regimens, and motivation that will will appeal to all levels of runners. The 63 contributors include athletes, coaches, health professionals, and writers. In addition to being an invaluable compendium of running know-how, their book is also compelling reading. It answers hundreds of questions on race preparation, stretching, injuries, and master's running. An excellent bibliography and resource list are included. This book has elements of Bob Glover and Pete Schuder's The New Competitive Runner's Handbook ( LJ 5/1/88) and James F. Fixx's The Complete Book of Running ( LJ 6//77), but it is more comprehensive. Every library with a sports collection should have a copy.
